adding new file types in windows VISTA

Windows vista operating system's search engine has indexed only limited file types. Vista search engine cannot index all the files. You can add or remove file types, which can be indexed by search engine in vista. Windows vista provides flexibility over opting for file types.

To add or remove a file type, follow the steps

1. Open start menu in vista and in search box just type 'index' and press enter. You can see an indexing service panel. In this we can add new file types or remove existing file types.

2. In indexing options click on 'Advanced button'.

3. Now type the new file type extension, you want to add. Then click on button 'Add new extension'.

4. If u want to index file contents in windows vista search engine, select the particular file type and check on 'Index properties and file contents'.

5. To remove a particular file type in windows vista, remove check on file type.
